In keeping with our mission to provide programs and services that inspire participation while protecting the integrity of the sport of lacrosse in Qatar, the QLA are pleased to share our success having secured an equipment grant through the Federation of International Lacrosse (Balls-Cockerton-Hayes Youth Lacrosse Development Grant Program).

The QLA's “First Stick” lacrosse program offers a quality physical education, which includes activities tailored to the experience, varying interests and abilities of all students and is an exciting activity for male and female students here in Qatar. "The goal for us is to enhance and expand our “First Stick” lacrosse program within elementary, middle and high schools. The grant will significantly advance our objective to award Qatar schools with a program package, therefore encouraging national participation in the sport through the physical education curriculum / extra curriculum activity." - Gibran Al-Bader, QLA Co-Founder.

The QLA is delighted to announce that Qatar has become its 14th Member of the Asia Pacific Lacrosse Union (APLU). Qatar was admitted into Associate Membership at the APLU’s SGM held 28 May 2018 by a unanimous decision of voting members.

In an event that promised to usher in the fascinating sport of lacrosse in Qatar, the Qatar Lacrosse Association (QLA) hosted its inaugural National Invitational Tournament with huge success!
"As a Qatari, the synergy between sport and community, is one to be proud of and to celebrate." - Gibran Jamal Nasser Bin Al-Bader - QLA Director Physical education curriculum lacrosse is a version of game that utilises modified equipment and rules, and is designed for junior and youth age groups to achieve quick success executing the basic skills, and is referred to as soft-lacrosse, as revealed by GEMS American Academy, Al Wakra. "The QLA team helped us from the very beginning providing valuable information and ready-to-go resource literature for our teaching staff to use in their lesson planning. The success of the pilot programme and positive feedback from our students was more than enough to move the sport to the next level. As a result we have since expanded our programme to grades 8 (13yrs) and 10 (15yrs) with a great response."
